Hypogonadism as a risk factor for cardiovascular mortality in men: a meta-analytic study – 2011 – European Society of Endocrinology

A previous major summary study evaluating the effect of Testosterone Therapy on Cardiovascular Events, showed Testosterone Therapy safety, because it was not associated with an increased risk of Cardiovascular Disease.  Similar results were also reported in another review that analyzed 51 placebo-controlled studies with follow-up ranging from 3 months up to 3 years.  While higher Estrogen levels are ASSOCIATED with Cardiovascular Disease, Estrogen levels ARE NOT A PREDICTOR of Cardiovascular disease and it actually seems that high Estrogen levels are actually only an indicator of poor health or obesity and that those high levels are actually a consequence of disease rather than a predictor of disease.  Importantly, studies show that the treatment of low testosterone states may moderate many of the medical co-factors and thus may decrease Cardiovascular Risk.
